Jay Daly
Trumpet
For almost 40 years, Jay's soaring trumpet has been a mainstay of Boston's diverse music venues. From Symphony Hall to the Colonial Theater, from the Boston Opera House to Tanglewood, he has endeared himself to audiences and fellow musicians alike as "one of the most versatile trumpet players in the Boston area," in the words of the Boston Globe. Jay's talents have been sought by touring star performers including Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis, Natalie Cole, Linda Rondstadt, the Moody Blues, and many others.
Jay has played with almost every Boston-based swing band and has been performing his “Tribute to Five Decades of Popular Trumpet Solos” for many years with different groups across NE. Jay’s most recent project “From Stardust to Penny Lane; A Celebration of the Popular Trumpet” has been met with critical acclaim as thousands of audience members have enjoyed the beloved famous trumpet solos of the 20th century.
Jay has been the lead trumpet player for the North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, MA for the last 28 years, one of the finest regional theaters in the country. Jay also leads his own group, the New England Brass which began in 1980 following his graduation from UNH.
